Octopus
Octopus is a Belgian cloud bookkeeping platform used across Belgium and neighbouring countries. Monitr connects via OAuth and imports general ledger data, accounts, cost centres, and outstanding item data.
What Monitr imports from Octopus
| Data | Used for |
|---|---|

| Outstanding items | Outstanding Items dashboard |
| Fixed assets | Fixed Assets dashboard and module |
Connecting Octopus
- Go to Integrations in the sidebar.
- Select the Accounting Software tab.
- Find the Octopus card and click Add.
- Click Authenticate with Octopus — you're redirected to Octopus's OAuth login page.
- Log in with your Octopus account.
- Authorise Monitr to access your data.
- Select the administration(s) (dossiers) to import.
Multiple administrations
If your Octopus account manages multiple administrations (dossiers), each one will be imported as a separate entity in Monitr. You can select which administrations to import during setup.
Cost centres
Octopus cost centres are imported as analytical dimensions in Monitr, allowing you to report by cost centre alongside your chart of accounts.
Managing the integration
Once connected, the integration card shows the connected administrations. Click the Settings (gear) icon in the integration card title area to remove individual administrations or delete the entire integration from Monitr.
Reconnecting
If your Octopus token expires or you revoke access:
- Go to Integrations in the sidebar.
- Click the Settings (gear) icon in the Octopus integration card title area.
- Delete the administration(s) that need reconnecting.
- Find the Octopus card and click Add.
- Follow the OAuth flow again to re-authenticate.
- Re-select your administrations.
Notes
- The first full import for organisations with large transaction histories may take longer than other integrations. Subsequent incremental imports are fast.
- Year-opening adjusting entries: Octopus uses a special journal code for year-opening bookings. Monitr automatically handles these entries during import.
- Outstanding items are updated during each import run.
