Exact Online
Exact Online is one of the most widely used accounting platforms in the Netherlands and Belgium. Monitr connects to Exact Online via OAuth and imports GL transactions, accounts, and analytical axes automatically.
What Monitr imports from Exact Online

Connecting Exact Online
- Go to Integrations in the sidebar.
- Select the Accounting Software tab.
- Find the Exact Online card and click Add.
- Choose the Environment for your Exact Online account (Belgium or Netherlands).
- Click Authenticate with Exact — you're redirected to Exact's OAuth login.
- Log in with your Exact Online credentials.
- Authorise Monitr to access your data.
- Select the administration(s) (entities) you want to import.
Monitr immediately starts the first import for each selected administration.
Permissions required in Exact Online
Monitr needs read access to your Exact Online data. Specifically, the connecting user needs:
- Read access to the General Ledger
- Read access to Chart of Accounts
- Read access to Financial Periods
No write permissions are required — Monitr never modifies data in Exact Online.
Multi-administration support
If you have multiple administrations in Exact Online (common for holding structures), Monitr lets you select all of them during setup. Each administration becomes a separate entity in Monitr.
Managing the integration
Once connected, an integration card shows the connected administrations. Click the Settings (gear) icon in the integration card title area.
Click the Settings (gear) icon to:
- Delete individual connections: Remove specific administrations from Monitr while keeping others connected.
- Delete the entire integration: Remove all Exact Online connections at once.
Reconnecting after token expiry
Exact Online OAuth tokens expire periodically. If imports start failing with an authentication error, reconnect by:
- Go to Integrations → Accounting Software.
- Find the Exact Online card and click Add to connect additional administrations.
- Follow the OAuth flow again.
- Select the administration that needs reconnecting.
Imports resume automatically after reconnection. Note: You may need to contact Monitr support if you want to refresh credentials for an already-connected administration without adding new ones.
Troubleshooting
Import shows "Not found": The administration may have been renamed or its ID changed in Exact. Reconnect and reselect the administration.
Missing accounts: Some accounts may not appear if they have no transactions in the import period. Add a small test transaction or manually add the account in Monitr.
Analytical axis data missing: Ensure the analytical dimensions are activated for the administration in Exact Online settings.
Notes
- Initial imports for organisations with many entities or large transaction histories may take longer to complete.
