Preferences
Language
You can choose whether to use Monitr in English or Dutch. Your language preference is saved and applied whenever you sign in.
Decimal separator
You can choose how numbers are formatted when you view financial data in Monitr:
- Comma (1 234,56) — thousands separator is a space, decimal separator is a comma
- Period (1,234.56) — thousands separator is a comma, decimal separator is a period
This preference affects how numbers appear throughout the dashboard and reports, but does not change how numbers are stored or exported.
Security
The Security section allows you to manage your password, Two-Factor Authentication, and trusted devices.
Password
You can request a password reset email directly from your profile:
- Click the Reset password button in the Password section.
- Confirm the request. Monitr will email a password reset link to your account email address.
Two-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Two-Factor Authentication adds an extra layer of security to your account. When enabled, you must provide both your password and a code from an authenticator app each time you sign in from an untrusted device.
Checking your MFA status
The Two-Factor Authentication card shows a badge indicating whether MFA is Enabled or Disabled.
Enabling Two-Factor Authentication
If MFA is not yet enabled:
- Click the Enable Two-Factor Authentication button.
- A setup dialog opens.
- On your phone, open an authenticator app (such as Microsoft Authenticator, Google Authenticator, or Authy).
- Use your app to scan the QR code shown on the screen.
- Enter the 6-digit verification code generated by your authenticator app into the dialog.
- Click Finish.
- Save your recovery codes somewhere safe. Each recovery code can be used once to sign in if you lose access to your authenticator app.
Regenerating recovery codes
If you need new recovery codes:
- Click Regenerate recovery codes on the MFA section.
- Confirm the action in the dialog.
- Save the new recovery codes. Your existing recovery codes will stop working immediately.
Disabling Two-Factor Authentication
If MFA is already enabled, you can disable it directly from your profile:
- Click the Disable button in the MFA section.
- Confirm the action in the warning dialog.
Trusted devices
When Two-Factor Authentication is enabled, you can choose to trust your current device for 30 days during sign-in.
In the Trusted devices section, you can:
- View a list of your trusted devices, displaying an icon for desktop or mobile, the device label, the last used date, and a this device badge for your current active session.
- Forget a device: Click the delete icon next to any listed device, then confirm in the dialog to require that device to complete two-step verification again on its next login.
Depending on your account state, the section adapts:
- If MFA is disabled: An informational message explains that devices can only be marked as trusted after enabling Two-Factor Authentication.
- If no devices are trusted yet: An informational message indicates you don't have any trusted devices.
If MFA is disabled, all trusted devices are cleared.
Organisations tab
The Organisations tab shows all the organisations you're a member of in Monitr. Each organisation is a separate workspace where you can independently manage financial data, teams, settings, and billing.

Creating a new organisation
To create a new organisation:
- Click the Create new organisation button.
- Enter a name for your organisation in the company name field.
- Click Create.
When you create a new organisation, you're automatically placed in the Administrators team, which gives you full access to set up and manage the organisation. After creating an organisation, you'll go through the onboarding process to connect your accounting software and complete initial configuration.
