Monitr MCP
Monitr MCP connects the AI assistant you already use — Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, Grok, or any other tool that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — directly to your Monitr data. Once connected, you can ask it about your reports, budgets, and transactions, or let it make changes on your behalf.
Monitr MCP is included in the Premium plan (and during a trial, as long as your organisation is on Premium). It isn't available on Lite.
What it can do
Once connected, your AI assistant can work with:
- Reporting — Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow, down to account and dimension level; actuals, budget, and forecast comparisons; your reporting structure and account mappings
- Transactions and outstanding items — look up individual transactions and your open receivables and payables
- Adjusting entries — create, update, or remove manual adjusting entries
- Budgets and forecasting — read and update budget lines, and manage forecast scenarios and their assumptions
- Personnel costs — departments, employees, and their computed costs
- Organisation settings — reporting dates, consolidation relations, and other organisation-level settings
It only ever sees the organisations your own Monitr account already has access to — connecting a tool never grants it anything your account itself can't see.
Billing and subscription management are never available to a connected tool — manage those in the Monitr app directly.
Choosing read-only or full access
When you connect a tool, you choose how much it's allowed to do:
- Read-only — it can view your data but can't make any changes
- Full access — it can also create, update, or delete data on your behalf, wherever your own Monitr role already allows it
This choice applies to every organisation included in the connection. To change it later, reconnect the tool and choose again. Some AI tools add their own extra confirmation step before carrying out a write action — check your tool's own settings if you'd like that additional prompt.
Connecting a tool
Monitr MCP works the same way for every supported AI tool — in your tool, add a new connection pointing to:
https://mcp.monitr.be/mcp
You'll then be asked to sign in to Monitr (if you aren't already) and review the connection request, which shows which of your organisations would be included and lets you choose read-only or full access.
Exact setup steps differ slightly per tool. Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Grok are all supported — see the step-by-step connection guide for your specific tool.
Any application can request a connection, and Monitr doesn't verify who's behind it. Before you approve, check the application name and domain shown on the review screen, and make sure it's a tool you recognise and trust — especially before choosing full access.
